Class Rules and Behavior Expectations
1. Honor God with your words, thoughts, actions, and body. (Deuteronomy 6:5, 1 Corinthians 6:20)
2. Treat others the way you want to be treated. (Luke 6:31, Galatians 6:10) 3. Follow directions the first time they are given. (Hebrews 13:17, Proverbs 10:17) 4. Listen to the speaker, whether it's a student or teacher. (James 1:19, Proverbs 19:27) |
Behavior Expectations and Consequences
Students are expected to obey the class rules and follow directions everyday. While some circumstances merit a reminder, warning, or grace, other circumstances will require an immediate consequence. Hebrews. 12:11, Proverbs 22:6. Students will also learn that behavior choices are connected to the curricular terms "cause and effect. Please see the pictures or files to reference the discipline plan.

Classwork and Homework
According to the Portland Christian School handbook, third graders may have up to 20 to 30 minutes of daily homework. Students' will need to study the Bible memory verse and spelling words every day, in addition to any assignments given to complete at home. If students do not finish classwork, they will have to use additional time at home to complete it.
Absent Policy and Makeup Work
Absent work will be provided to students the day they return to school. I use the time after dismissal to gather materials that absent students will need. If you are at school to pick up the sibling of your absent child, please arrange to meet with me after school. Otherwise, the absent materials will be awaiting your child on their desk when they return. Students will have the number of days they were absent plus one day (starting after the day they pick up their absent materials) to make up their absent work assignments for full-credit.
Zeros are given to assignments that are turned in after three days from the due date. Parents will be notified via email and students will be notified with a Missing Assignment Notice, This notice will include information about the assignment and the extended due date. If the assignment is turned in by the given extended due date, the zero will be raised to a 50%.
Turned in day due by 8:00am: up to 100% A+
Turned in 1 day late by 8:00am: up to 89% B Turned in 2 days late by 8:00am: up to 79% C Turned in 3 days late by 8:00am: up to 70% D If not turned in by 3 days late, grade becomes 0% F |
